13.8 mile segment on the IAT
Happy to get up and out earlier today.. Still ending at 1 which is in the heat of the day. Soon it would be best to break the day up by hiking 12 early and then finish up with 6 or 8 in the late afternoon. We are still trying to get a bit more trail “saavy” in learning the way to camp while hiking. We’d get a bit of rest off our feet in the heat of the day and even more sleep at night with the ability to start the next day early and right there, rather than having to drive a few hours to start.
Weather: 80s. Sunny, breezy
Highs: the whole day was trail except for road crossings.
2. The smallest baby toad I’ve ever seen.
Lows: Mosquitos keep having babies. Send more bats, toads, barnswallows, and anyone else that dines on the pests to the trail!
Totem animal: baby toad, turkey vulture
People on trail: 2
Trail Conditions: very nice, well marked. Liked the hillier terrain
