I woke up at about 3:30 excited to get back to hiking. Today was nice weather, not so humid as it’s been! Wisconsin’s Prairies continue to delight me, especially in the morning with their bath of morning dew!
Most of today’s hike was on road but it was hilly, curvy and twisty country farmland.. Though the pavement is harder on my feet I certainly enjoyed the scenes and the lack of Mosquitos today!
Cross Plains is where our trail ended for today and it’s where the Ice Age Trail Alliance Headquarters are, so we stopped in to meet some of the people I’ve shared phone conversation and/or email with. It’s awesome to know of and speak with these hard working outdoor trail enthusiasts but to meet them in person was the highlight of my day. Great to meet Eric, Jo, Rebecca, and Brad. It’s awesome how nature & hiking communes people.
I encourage those of you reading this to check out a segment of the Ice Age Trail ( or whatever trail you are near, wherever you may live)… A great and lifelong way to play in nature and to see and feel your own inner sense of wonder and aliveness!
Weather: gorgeous, not humid, sunny, high 70s – low 80s
Trail Conditions: the one prairie section is beautiful. The rest was road. Easy to follow except that Hwy P isn’t marked when I turned right onto it from Stagecoach.. Otherwise the roads easily flowed into each other – one to the next.
Lows: Not even a mosquito to complain about today…
Highs:
1. Getting into beautiful hilly country.
2. Meeting Eric, Jo, Rebecca, and Brad at the Ice Age Trail Alliance headquarters in Cross Plains, WI.
Animal Totems: bluebird, Great Blue Heron
People: none on my trail section. Lots of cyclists on the road I woke up at about 3:30 excited to get back to hiking. Today was nice weather, not so humid as it’s been! Wisconsin’s Prairies continue to delight me, especially in the morning with their bath of morning dew!
