Kenosha, WI:
Double story today as I tracked both the red and the orange loop at Bong State Recreational Area, near Kenosha, WI.
We started at 7 am and ran the red 8 mile loop and then traded running for hiking to almost repeat what we had done on the red minus a few miles to track the orange.
The trails here are gorgeous and very well maintained. Relatively flat and easy. Easy on the feet as most parts are grassy.
Trails are very well marked though a little confusing when almost done. The trails are circular and you hike in from the trailhead about 1/2 mile to begin all trails. It’s easy to make a mistake and begin to go around a the loop again!
Animal Totems: Bull Frogs, GBHeron, muskrat
Highs: happy there are so many trails!
Lows: biting deer flies and continued humidity
Weather: HUMID, hot and sunny
