Because I have quite the arsenal of images stashed in chunky hard drives, I go through from time to time and discover an image or more that I meant to get back to but the boardwalk of life’s journey kept me going forward … Since I really move in
much more of a circular, non linear pattern through life, I eventually get “around” (pun intended) to discovering for the third or fourth time that image that I had left once again in the sand. … Hence today I am sharing Mr. Reddish Egret from the Sunny Wildlife Refuge Ding Darling in Sanibel, Florida. .. This image was made over 3 years ago as of this past March.
From the East and Southeast I began to travel North, Northwest, West and Southwest. I had been primarily a wild bird photographer but as the West made it’s Grand Landscapes known to me I fell in love with landscape photography as well.. of course I love it all when it’s nature and when I find a special connection, which I must have in order to make life – like images.
But neither West nor East is shown in the other image displayed here today. I was conducting a one on one landscape photography workshop with a wonderful client named Bob. I teach by showing and learn from clients as well. It’s about connecting with each other and enjoying the day in nature, learning and playing with cameras and lenses.
This image is simply a man-made boardwalk that guides one through the Kohler-Andrae State Park. The park winds the shoreline of Lake Michigan near Sheboygan, WI and the boardwalk to me, with it’s windy ways connected me with a metaphor to my own life journey … the connection was there and thus the image was born.
