Running What I FEEL is like DANCING with the Earth

Part of the fun in running for me is the sense of adventure. It's fun to be running along and turn left or right to make a new trail part of my route.

Running based on how I feel is a dance with the Earth. Feeling the earth, its hardness or softness, its wet or dryness, is a massage to my feet that travels up my body as a whole.

It’s most invigorating to set my “schedule” in each moment. I may find an interesting new trail or no trail, that I wish to explore … I just veer off, tracking my route as I go, creating and dancing with Mother Earth wherever she suggests that I play in any given moment.

With the shorter days has usually come the stress of “having to get out for my run before it gets dark” or I’ll miss it. Now I run into the dark and find there is so much joy in it! Not only have I often ditched the headlamp that I usually forget to take with me anyway, but I find that my feet are my best “eyes” even when running on trail in the dark. Of course, its wonderful to have the aid and the beauty of a full moon – what an incredible experience that is! The other night I hit the darkness into my run and was head level with a Harrier Hawk that came skimming over the field that I was skirting!
