San Diego – Coronado Island running on the beach:
Today was a blast! It was raining for the first half of my run and it felt great.
After a mile or so of warming up I relaxed into the run and just flowed.
The gulley areas were full of water from a wilder ocean and I loved splashing into them while observing how the shod runners avoided the spill from the waves. How freeing to be barefoot and even more so on the beach where my feet welcome the cool ocean splash ..!
Delightful it was …
At the end of the beach there is a dog park where the dogs are having as much fun as I am! They’re chasing balls into the water and of course running up to me with the question in their eye always, “Can I run with you lady?!”
I ran to and from a huge rock pile times producing a mileage count of just over 7. The last two miles were fun in that three other athletes appeared running opposite of me until I turned around. They became a race for me and they were quite far ahead but I could see myself gaining on them. They got to the end where we crossed opposite again. One guy looked back. As I passed them one of them tried to stay with me but couldn’t. I spoke with them after and thanked them for the pace. It’s fun to race, even when we make up out own race!:)
Ah, I love how each run is a new experience and event!
