I speak on a variety of subjects, all of which incorporate my photography and adventure stories that go with the pictures. All speeches have a motivational / inspiring message.

My approach is entertaining, humorous and engages the audience with images and the stories behind the images. I’m not one to bore people with the technical side of my images. However if a person asks a technical question I will be happy to answer that information for them. ..

Speeches Include but are not Limited to (I will customize speeches to the audience):

For all Audiences

My Survival Story – Surviving the Canyon: Lost and Survived overnight when temperatures fell to 19 degrees in the Oak Creek Canyon.

Living the Dream - Finding your passion and  having the courage to pursue it and live it! Told through my own stories of facing the fears to chase my dreams… “it’s only scary because it’s the unknown.. but as you walk (or run) towards your dreams the path becomes known.” Don’t reach the end of your life wishing you “would’ve” ….

The Art of Visualization and Self Actualization – I’ve used visualization techniques to self actualize just about everything in my life .. I’ve been a runner for 31 years. I’d sit quietly before races, rehearsing my wins before I ever physically performed. Once the race started all I had to do was re-play what I had rehearsed… The highlight of this speech addresses How the focus I learned from Long Distance Running Helped to Save my Life  when I was lost overnight in the sub freezing temperatures of the Arizona Oak Creek Canyon.

Social media and technology (specifically Facebook, Iphone and blogging) – utilizing these resources to tell your story and to grow your business.

For Camera Clubs, Photography Enthusiasts, and all Audiences

Painting Experiences through Photography.- Beyond the technical.. Know that technical side like you know the back of your hand. The eye popping images come from the heart. …

As Kristen, the teacher of photography, I see myself as more of a teacher of what photography teaches me. When I conduct workshops, I could focus on the technical side of things, but I’d prefer the photographer to focus more on what he or she is experiencing in nature. Too much focus on what their camera does keeps them pretty “clinical” in the field. The camera is simply a tool to orchestrate what the artist wishes to translate. The photographer should know the camera like a pianist knows her piano. Only with this knowledge will a photographer transcend being a photographer into being an artist. Most of my clients have some working knowledge of their cameras or we do the tech stuff indoors, where we can focus on just that. The outdoors deserves our attention when we get there … that’s when the feeling and the composing comes in as a personal experience between the artist and nature.

The technical learning of a photographer’s gear (camera, lenses, tripods, etc)  is essential, critical, and the first step to the artistry of making descent photographic images. The essential element to making great photographic images is to experience and become “friends” with the subject.
