One reason for my GPS tracking the loop trail systems is to provide a trail guide service that has not been offered before (GPX files for your GPS device). Ahhh, a service! .. I can offer a service! .. The print business has literally tanked with the economy slow down and it seems that people are only buying services these days… what, oh what could I offer as a service that I would give as much passion to as I do my art of photography? What would give people something of value, enrich their lives, get them or keep them fit, and get them out into nature alone or with friends and family?
Hiking the trails has been giving me the answers and the questions became obvious. What goes into my photography? .. What is even more important than my photography? The experiences are! .. So if I could give people the means or a source to experience for themselves the very nature (quite literally) that feeds so much of who we are, then I would feel even more satisfied to offer this service than I ever could feel by offering my print products (of course I would still offer prints for sale, but now they will have even more of a story behind them)…
Thus the trail guide is born and being put into production as I write this.. One or two days I spend hiking either the IAT or a local or state trail loop (s), tracking merrily as I go… AND then that time is balanced with a day or two in the office, bundling my GPX and KML files, pictures, and trail information – to add to an ever increasing library of trail guides. ..
Please keep checking my blog for new guides & information. I list the pertinent information about each trail so you can pick & buy the trail guides that you would like to experience.
Each download contains GPX file for your GPS, KLM file for google earth and google maps (preview the trail!), printable maps to take with you, PDF version of my trail information.
.. on Deck to come to you from Wisconsin:
- Kettle Moraine Nordic Loops (Southern Kettle Moraine)
- Bong State Recreational Area (Kenosha, WI)
- Lake Geneva Shore Path (21 mile loop)
