Notes: I love a variety of running routes for all kinds of reasons and names I give to them usually says something about the run … Always in some way, shape or form the name is a term of affection.
… This route is called “Up Chucks” and not because of anyone getting ill along the trail. The original run is called “Chucks with a Twist”. It’s named because after tuning from Williams Bay to Fontana on the Shore Path we get onto the road again at Chucks, the restaurant, to go back to Williams Bay. The road foes up the steepest hill in the bay area .. One day when I decided with my friend John Nage, to run the route in reverse,… What could we do but name the backwards version of it UPCHUCKS! .. with affection of course!
So this day I ran the road section and enjoyed it… Didn’t go as quickly today, so set a moderate pace. Along the trail section though I was forced to go much slower with a lot of brush in the way and the usual changes in the trail terrain.
I iced my Achilles tendons after by using duct tape to keep my ice bag (frozen vegetables) close to my ankles. Duct tape and frozen veggies were a great combo.. Really helped with that soreness on the heel where my vibrams press my Achilles.
Another noticeable and very cool thing: as I’ve stated, my arches have gotten higher… My feet are now about a size smaller. I was size 8 foot and flattened to a 9 by college… Now my feet are back to an 8, I’d guess! Wild!
