Great Egret image made in a rookery in Northern Illinois. I had been photographing the Great Blue Heron rookery and spotted some white feathers quite far off. I made my way through cattails and swampy surfaces to get closer to the trees that several egrets had claimed for nesting.

The sky was constantly changing and in this case the sky went quite light so I lightened it even more to get the effect you see here. Often I don’t much prefer a white sky to background my subject but in the case of white on white – I sometimes love its effect!
