Realizing Dreams – Quotes from the Alchemist

I read Roz Savage’s blog every morning as she solo rows the Pacific Ocean on her own personal legend. By living her personal legend she is a vehicle for environmental awareness. …
Finding myself somewhere between having stepped my toes into that personal legend and journey of my own and having swum into it a little at a time – feeling how alive I feel when I am out there doing it, freed from the baggage that comes with a so called “perfect life”, I connect with the quotes Roz wrote this morning from the “Alchemist”.

And this from my own experience of where I am and where I am going in my own life journey: “Dipping toes to test the water, swimming in, coming back out, swimming in again for longer and then …. the next step is the dive and total immersion… and feeling the buoyancy of support that dreams bring when you cut the thread that keeps you from letting go.” Kristen Westlake, July 22, 2009

“If a person is living out his destiny, he knows everything he needs to
know. There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve:
the fear of failure.”

“Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that
was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so
that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons
we’ve learned as we’ve moved towards that dream. That’s the point at
which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the
language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees
have appeared on the horizon’. Every search begins with beginner’s luck.
And every search ends with the victor’s being sorely tested.”

“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us
becomes better, too.”
